You may eat out without leaving the marina, either at the Chichester Yacht Club or the Spinnaker Restaurant and can pick up provisions at the on-site chandlery. There is plenty of free parking.

Training

FREE RYA Day Skippers Join SailTime Chichester in 2008 and Receive your Day Skipper Qualification FREE of charge

SailTime Chichester is offering the opportunity to complete your RYA Day Skipper Practical, consisting of 5 Days full training amounting to a value of over £600 completely FREE of charge. This offer is open to those who join as a member on SailTime Chichester brand new Beneteau Oceanis 343 in 2008.

To allow you as a Member or Owner-Member to sail alone and unassisted we require you to have reached the RYA Day Skipper Tidal qualification. We strongly believe that this standard is the minimum that will enable you to feel confident in handling the boat and to enjoy your sailing with family and friends.

The ensuing professionalism of your sailing or power cruising also helps to avoid unnecessary boating incidents that might otherwise result in the damage of the boat, spoiling the enjoyment of the SailTime experience for you and for others. Also, the Owner-Member knows that his boat is being sailed by select and competent Members who undoubtedly will become seafaring friends.

Whilst you are working towards your RYA Day Skipper Tidal qualification you can, of course, still sail. However, it is a requirement that you have onboard someone, guest or instructor, of Day Skipper standard or higher.

One of the benefits of SailTime is that you are able to use your sailing time to enjoy instruction on your own yacht or powerboat rather than in a group situation onboard a basic and unfamiliar sailing school training boat.

Through one of the affiliated RYA sailing schools we are able to provide you with professional quality training on your yacht or powerboat to help you become an improved, more confident skipper, regardless of your initial standard. Our programme gives you the flexibility to have a Yachtmaster instructor onboard for one-to-one tuition, group tuition, or simply as a companion to help build your confidence on a new boat.

Please contact your base manager for more information on availability and costs.

Yarmouth, Isle of Wight

Affordable Solent charters from ChichesterThe most western harbour on the Isle of Wight, Yarmouth is not only a convenient passage stopover, but has become a very desirable destination in its own right with virtually all weather and tidal access. With the exception of the town quay, the way ashore is by dinghy or water taxi. Yarmouth is a delightful fishing, ferry and yachting port, widely regarded as one of the jewels of the south coast. There are many fine restaurants and amenities. One of its primary features is the castle, constructed in 1547 by order of Henry VIII. The Harbour is not recommended for comfort in strong northerlies or north-easterlies, but is otherwise snugly sheltered.

Newtown River, Isle of Wight

Join Chichester boat share not buy a Solent yacht. The uninformed visitor to the magical Newtown River would never for a moment imagine the depth and length of its history. Said to date back to Roman times, the port of Newtown was sufficiently prosperous in 1001 to warrant sacking by the Vikings! Now overgrown tracks are all that remain of the busy streets, and nature, with her oak woods and salt marshes, remains unchallenged. The river is owned and administered by the National Trust. A favourite place for yachts and small water craft to put down anchor and spend the night.
