Affordable Membership Sailing with SailTime Southampton
Discover affordable fractional sailing with Sailtime Southampton

SailTime is a wonderful way to enjoy luxury new and fully maintained yachts and power cruisers with none of the worry of traditional ownership, at a fraction of the cost.
Perhaps you have dreamed of sailing or power cruising, but have not been ready or confident enough to make the large financial undertaking to purchase your own yacht or powerboat, together with the associated ongoing costs and time commitment. If this is the case, then SailTime is the near perfect solution!
At SailTime Hamble, Lymington and Southampton we have developed a unique integrated training, social and ‘club’ environment. We believe traditional Sailing School training, without ongoing access to a boat is like learning to drive without access to a car. Why would you do that?
Welcome to SailTime Southampton
Sue Grey and myself Richard Pierpoint, own and operate SailTime Hamble, Lymington and Southampton which we have developed since 2005, with 11 boats and a rapidly growing ‘club’ of Members and Owner-Members.
We believe the SailTime concept makes so much sense to so many people. However, we also believe it is the delivery of the product, especially in terms of service and standards, which is fundamental to our success. Add into the mix our integrated sail and power training through our own dedicated sailing school, www.solentnauticalcollege.co.uk, coupled with an all inclusive and active social programme, and you will see we provide a fantastic opportunity for Members to enjoy, learn and include the whole family in a new lifestyle at tremendous value.
SailTime Hamble, Lymington and Southampton is run by enthusiastic sailors for sailors and power boaters!
Apart from major and local boat shows, we organise regular Open Days - please click on the ‘Base Info and Events’ page for the schedule of dates. We look forward to meeting you, showing you round our yachts and power cruisers and answering any queries you may have.

We are located at Ocean Village Marina in Southampton. Map to Southampton.
Situated in the shelter of Southampton Water on the River Itchen, and right in the heart of Southampton, Ocean Village is more than a marina. Surrounded by attractive modern waterfront houses and luxury apartments, restaurants, cinemas and bars, it offers outstanding recreational facilities. Overlooking the marina is the Royal Southampton Yacht Club which, although a members club, offers berth holders and visitors a warm and friendly welcome and has a reputation for excellent food.
The basin, formerly used for commercial ships, is deep enough to offer mooring facilities for tall ships and large yachts. It has also become famous for hosting the start and finish of around the world yacht races. The 375-berth marina, with excellent facilities, has access at all states of the tide.
The sailing opportunities are endless - cruise around the Isle of Wight; head west and explore Buckler's Hard on the Beaulieu River; Lymington at the far end of the Solent; or sail east to the sheltered Chichester Harbour. The more adventurous sailors can cruise down to the West Country and enjoy some spectacular sailing along the Cornish Coast.
2009 will see the opening of the new four star deluxe Millennium Hotel, a 15-storey glass-sided building with 225 luxuriously appointed rooms, a spa, waterside restaurant, and bars. When completed, Ocean Village Marina's annual berth holders and visitors will have access to the hotel services and facilities, which include a spa, gym, fitness centre, laundry room, broadband connections and 'room service' onboard their boats.
In November 2007 the new multi-storey Ocean Car Park was opened. It is situated near to the marina and includes state-of-the-art security throughout, easy to navigate parking spaces, cutting-edge design, clear signage and exceptional attention to detail. Berth holders will have complimentary parking.
Ocean Village is only a short bus ride from the Isle of Wight ferry terminal and West Quay shopping centre, both within 15 minutes walk, as well as Southampton’s Oxford Street, well known for its excellent restaurants. Ocean Village is only 15 minutes drive from the M3/M27 junction, making it very accessible by road.

Training
SailTime have a minimum requirement of RYA Day Skipper Tidal (practical and theory) for our Members which you can gain through our integrated training programme.
However, we are also very conscious that obtaining your Day Skipper Qualification is just the beginning of your yachting and power boating experience and unless you are already an experienced sailor you will still be lacking the confidence to allow you, your friends and family to get the most out of yachting and power cruising.
Solent Nautical College is SailTime Hamble & Lymington’s unique dedicated training facility, having been established with the philosophy that the most rewarding way to enjoy time on the water is through learning and mastering a skill set. We believe that the best way to achieve this is through quality instruction, regular practice and specific ongoing guidance and training. As a SailTime Member, you, your family and friends already have access to a quality boat, but now we are able to add real value by matching regular boat access to top quality instruction, workshops and events. If you wish we can guide your progress to Yachtmaster and beyond.
By comparison, the traditional route of training is like taking driving lessons without a car at home to practice in. Progress will be slow and expensive!
Solent Nautical College is headed up by our vastly experienced Chief Instructor, Graeme Johnston. Graeme came from a consumer orientated industry and building up a very impressive CV. His achievements include running Neilson’s yacht fleet in Greece, before heading up their customer training programme in the UK. Subsequently, Graeme became a prestigious ‘Clipper Ventures Yacht’ training skipper taking on novices and training them for round the world racing, before becoming a ‘Clipper Round the World Race’ Skipper, and bringing his boat and crew safely home.
With some 300,000 sea miles under his belt, and having gained both cruising and racing experience in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, we know that you will not find a better or more knowledgeable instructor to learn from.
Through SNC we provide integrated training, giving our Members and Owner-Members the benefit of private tuition, ongoing training workshops (with other members) and a natural route to competent seamanship, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional training. Our shore based workshops cover navigation, electronics, VHF, Rules of the Road, rope work, weather, first aid etc, whilst our practical workshops on the water include, mooring & boat handling under power, anchoring, sail trimming & Cruising chutes, navigation, maintenance, night time port entry etc. In addition we are running Offshore passages (can be part of mile building), night sailing and accompanied short cruises. Whether you join us as a novice or yachtmaster,we can help you achieve more than you had ever dreamed of.
With our obvious but totally unique approach, why given the choice, would you choose to train any other way?
